Patricia claimed that she never took her daughter Anna with her to the salon and denied any accusations. \u201cNo not at all, not at all, not whatsoever,\u201d she said when asked about the charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per ABC, <\/em>New Jersey law doesn\u2019t permit children under the age of 14 to use tanning services. Children older than 14 can get tanning session with parental consent only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So what made people believe Patricia took Anna to the salon? As it turned out, a school nurse asked Anna about the light burns on her body to which the girl replied: \u201cI go tanning with mommy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Patricia on the other hand said her daughter got sunburns from playing outside in the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere\u2019s not room\u2026 I would never permit it\u2026 It didn\u2019t happen,\u201d she said. \u201cShe never went in,\u201d Patricia claimed in 2012. \u201cIt was beautiful out, and they went into the kiddie pool. She\u2019s a redhead. She got sunburnt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShe\u2019s 6 years old. Yes, she does go tanning with mommy, but not in the booth,\u201d she added. \u201cThe whole thing\u2019s preposterous!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n This incident brought Patricia the nickname \u201cTan Mom.\u201d Not only that, but her face was all over the media and the magazines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhen you look at this, this is somebody who has a problem which most likely has a condition called tanerexia, where they just don\u2019t realize just how much color they have,\u201d New York dermatologist Doris Day told ABC News.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere\u2019s really no excuse to take a young child to a tanning salon,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe often consider going to a tanning salon the equivalent of smoking for the skin and the younger you start, those effects are cumulative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking at what Patricia looked like after all those tanning sessions, a number of prominent dermatologists took their time to remind the public of the negative effects of excessive tanning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn all my years of treating patients as a dermatologist, I have never encountered anything like this,\u201d Zeichner told the NY Daily News.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGoing to a tanning salon 20 times a month, frankly, is insane, especially with all of the public education and awareness campaigns on the dangers of tanning beds and skin cancers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt may be she has an [obsession with] tanning, which actually now has a name \u2013 tanorexia. She may need help to treat not only the damage to her skin but also what is going on with her psychologically,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2013, Patricia was cleared of all the charges but still, many people condemned her for her parenting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All the pressure by the public and the media had a negative effect on Patricia who started drinking. Eventually, the family decided to move from New Jersey to Florida, looking for a fresh start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eventually, she decided she could use her fame in order to make some money. Being a mom of five and her husband being out of work, she said she planned on starring in a movie about her life and writing a book. She also claimed that there were plenty of modeling job offers on the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s not even near being over,\u201d she said about her moment in the spotlight. \u201cEveryone wants me. I have a lot of other opportunities, so I\u2019m just trying to figure out where to move my family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2019, Patricia almost lost her life after she suffered cardiac arrest and was diagnosed with severe pneumonia, pancreatitis, and an infection that spread to her lungs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey are feeding her very strong antibiotics to kill the infection as well so her system is taking quite a hit. I personally believe last night was the most critical turning point, and she made it so she will only continue to get better. The current plan is to try to extubate and revive her tomorrow or Tuesday, provided she maintains this trajectory,\u201d Patricia\u2019s friend Adam Barta told US Weekly <\/em>back in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Luckily, that is all in the past now and Patricia is doing good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Recently, she posted new picture of herself which clearly show the scars from her tanning days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Well, it\u2019s not that she stopped tanning entirely. According to her, she still tans twice a day in her own tanning bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She might have been mad about being called \u201cTan Mom\u201d back in the day, but that doesn\u2019t bother her any longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt doesn\u2019t bother me anymore.
